Transport to Bugala Island

There are four ways of reaching Bugala Island (Kalangala) from the mainland:

1. MV Kalangala from Entebbe (Nakiwogo landing site) to Lutoboka landing site, 4 hours crossing time. The regular schedule is daily departure from Lutoboka at 08:00 h and from Nakiwogo at 14:00 h. Vehicles must be pre-booked (phone 0705 116 773) and arrive at least one hour before departure.

2. The boat (passengers, no vehicles) from Entebbe (Nakiwogo landing site) to Lutoboka landing site, 1½ hours crossing time. Information and pre-booking: Nyanza Evergreen Waterways, 0752 371 829 or 0772 371 829.

3. The ferries from Bukakata (30 km from Masaka) to Luku landing site, 35 minutes crossing time. Regular schedule every 2 hours from both sides (Mon-Sat 08:00 to 18:00, Sun 08:00, 10:00, 14:00, 16:00 h). Vehicles and passengers, free of charge, no pre-booking, first-come first-served.

4. For the adventurous travelers, open canoes cross the lake on an ad-hoc basis, at negotiable fees.
